FAQ's

ROOT REHAB - SPORTS PHYSICAL THERAPY

  • Do I need a Doctor’s referral?
No, Illinois has direct access, meaning you can see a physical therapist without a referral. However, coverage may vary by insurance, so we recommend checking with your provider for details. If you have a primary care physician or specialist, we can send progress notes to keep them informed, ensuring continuity of care and collaboration in your treatment.
  • Will my session be overlapped with other clients?
No, we schedule every patient session to be 45 minutes long to ensure one-one-one care. We believe in spending time with our patients so that their sessions can be maximized to their personal goals instead of trying to accommodate multiple people at the same time. • Why does Fellowship Training matter?
Research has proven that Fellowship trained physical therapists ensure a more efficient and effective treatment journey. Fellowship programs offer intensive, hands-on mentorship and education in specialized areas, refining a therapist's clinical reasoning and patient-centered care enabling them to deliver superior patient outcomes in fewer sessions.
  • What does Pelvic Floor therapy entail?
Dysfunction in the pelvic floor muscles can contribute to issues such as pelvic pain, incontinence, prolapse, or sexual dysfunction. Through targeted exercises, manual therapy, breathing techniques, and education, pelvic floor therapy helps restore proper function, relieve pain, and improve quality of life. Please visit our Pelvic Floor Therapy page to learn more.
  • What if I don't want manual therapy?
Ensuring our patients feel comfortable and safe is our top priority. If you're unsure about manual therapy or have had a negative experience in the past, we will always adjust your treatment to suit your comfort level. Please visit our Manual Therapy page to learn more.
  • What's the difference between Dry Needling and Acupuncture?
While these two services utilize the same needle, they have a different focus. Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice based on balancing the body's energy (Qi) through meridians. Dry Needling is a modern evidence based treatment rooted in Western medicine designed to target 'trigger points' in the body's tissue.
  • Are manipulations safe?
Manipulations are safe when used appropriately. We are trained extensively to screen all of our patients prior to administering manipulative therapy. If you are unsure about manipulations, they do not have to be performed. Patient comfortability is our primary concern.
  • How Does Payment Work & Do You Accept Health Insurance?
While we plan to expand our in-network options, we currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield and offer cash-based rates. For more information on insurance and compensation for insurance plans that are out-of-network please visit our Insurance page.
  • Why should I pay cash?
Whether you are in-network or out-of-network there may be reasons that cash services may be more enticing, but that is up to you and the details of your insurance plan. We encourage all of our clients to call their insurance company regarding their benefits so that they can better understand their plan and make their own informed health care decisions. We do not push cash based services, but offer them for your potential benefit. To learn more about cash based services
